Services at Austintown Pediatrics

Night-time (After-Hours) Calls

After office hours, calls should be made only for emergencies or urgent problems that can’t wait until morning.   Calls about mild illnesses can usually wait until the next morning.  After office hours, your call will be received by an answering service and transferred to the physician/nurse practitioner or nurse on-call.  The physician will usually return your call within 15 minutes.  If you do not receive a call back within 1 hour in a non-emergency situation, please call again.  While you are waiting for the call back, please keep your line open and make the answering service aware if you have a block on your phone.  These obstacles will delay the promptness of returning your call.

Please DO NOT call the on-call physician for prescriptions.  The after hours physician will give you suggestions for the medical management of your child, but usually will be unable to call prescriptions in since he/she has not examined your child.

If you feel your child has an urgent problem, you can reach the on-call physician by calling 1-877-831-5415

There is a $13 fee for any calls made to the after-hours service that are not truly an emergency.

Weekend and Holiday Calls

There is always a physician on call when our office is closed.  During these times, if you feel your child has a problem that cannot wait until regular office hours, contact the after hours calls service.  After office hours, please limit calls to emergencies or other urgent problems that can’t wait until morning.

Please have the following information available when you call (except in emergencies):

•    Your child’s main symptoms
•    Any chronic disease or health problems your child has
•    Your child’s temperature if he or she is sick
•    Your child’s approximate weight (for medication dosage)
•    The names and dosages of any medicines your child is taking.
•    Your pharmacy’s telephone number
•    Your questions (it’s a good idea to write them down)

Always have a pencil and paper handy to take down instructions, and have your child nearby in case you need to check something about his or her condition.

  • We value the time we have set aside to see and treat your child.
  • We do not double book appointments.
  • If you are not able to keep an appointment, we require a 24-hour notice.

The physician and staff are scheduled around your child’s appointment and their time is lost if the appointment is missed or canceled late.

  • There is a charge of $25.00 missed appointments. Please be aware that your insurance company WILL NOT COVER THESE CHARGES, therefore this will be your responsibility.

Please arrive early for your appointment. Please remember that all insurances require that your information be updated prior to each visit.

  • Bring your insurance card to every visit

If you are late for your appointment (>15 minutes), we will do our best to accommodate you. However, on certain days it may be necessary to reschedule your appointment. Please be aware that other patients that arrive on time for their appointments will be seen first.

  • We strive to minimize any wait time; however, emergencies do occur and will take priority over a scheduled visit. We appreciate your understanding.

Well Visit Appointment Policy

Because of the length of visit, siblings will not be scheduled on the same day without prior approval by Dr. Campanelli, based on individual circumstances.

Before making an annual physical appointment, check with your insurance company as to whether the visit will be covered as a healthy (well-child) visit

Sick Visit Appointment Policy

These types of appointments are scheduled the same/next day, based on 1st available appointment. Walk-ins are discouraged since this will likely prolong your wait time. If you have more than one child that needs seen, please notify us by phone, before coming to the office.

Emergency Call (Day and Night)

Call 911 (Emergency Medical Services) for life threatening emergencies for which your child might require resuscitation (e.g., not breathing, severely choking, knocked unconscious, or having a seizure).

• When you call in, always state clearly, “This is an Emergency.” Do not let the answering service or staff put you on hold.

• For poisonings, call the Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222.

If Directed by Physician the preferred ER is:

Akron Children’s Hospital
Mahoning Valley Campus
6505 Market Street
Boardman, OH 44512
330-746-9200

We accept most insurance carriers. Please have your card with you at the time of your visit. If we file your claim, you are responsible for only the co-pay at the time of visit. If we are not a provider for your insurance, if you are not insured or we do not file with your insurance company, you may be responsible for the entire charge at the time of service.
